Final Fantasy IX

Square-Enix's most recent synopsis of Final Fantasy's 9th installment is nothing short of dramatic:

クリスタル、再び。
The crystal returns
何気ない流れの中で人は生きる。
As we continue to live by life's current.

不安を抱き、疑問を抱き、悲しみを抱きながら。
With anxiety, questions and sorrow
人はなにかを求めようとする。
There's one thing we each seek.

ジタンは自分の守るべきものを。
Zidane to find the one to protect
ビビは自分の存在を。
Vivi to find the meaning of existence
ガーネットは自分らしさを。
And Garnet to find herself.

The return of crystal and a new order of life that accompanied it all... FFIX might be light-hearted by tone and cutesy by look, but underneath the bubbly surface lies a premise so fascinating which you cannot help being drawn to. Although the main plot is not as grand as saving an entire world across time (a trend suggested by previous FF titles), as the chance encounter between a cheerful thief and a confused princess turned into the most vivid tale of love, it becomes apparent that no one can be expected to save others without understanding ways to secure his/her own heart first.

Play FFIX now if you have not already: it will likely be an experience you cannot forget for life.
